Suggested Reading List - Grades 6-8
The list of book titles was compiled from the results of an informal survey conducted by the state Education Department and distributed by the New York State English Council and New York State Reading Association. Teachers were asked to suggest books that they felt were "appropriate and successful with readers in the K-12 curriculum." The titles represent a sample of those submitted.
Summer Reading List - Grades 6-8
The following titles are recommended as summer reading both to maintain fluency and reading level and to encourage independent reading. Students may find these titles at libraries and bookstores.
Newbery Medal and Honor Books, 1922-Present
The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year. This website comes via the American Librarian Association.
