MIDDLE SCHOOL TRIP TO MAINE
Middle School students are offered the unique opportunity participate in the Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) program at Acadia National Park once during their middle school career. The trip is offered on a biennial basis (once every two years). The SEA program is conducted at the Schoodic Institute which is based on Big Moose Island, on Schoodic Point, Maine. This area is the mainland portion of Acadia National Park.
During their stay on the Schoodic Institute campus, students will focus on environmental study and mapping techniques. They will participate in hands-on natural and cultural resource activities including tide pool investigations, habitat hikes, and forest succession with GPS mapping, just to name a few. They will also learn about the diverse treasures preserved by the National Park Service.
The Schoodic Education Adventure is typically a three-day and two-night residential program; however our students will be there for two extra nights to allow for travel time. While at Acadia, students will stay in a heated dormitory, and participate in indoor studies as well as outdoor programs and walks. All meals and snacks are provided by a certified kitchen staff.
If you have any questions regarding SEA, please contact Ms. McDonald at (607) 588-7541 or email@example.com
