Ava Poniros scored 3 goals, Addison Bruck scored 2 goals, Kimyah Brown scored 1 goal, Madi Goodchild scored 1 goal, and Avyn Graham scored 1 goal, with assists by Addison Bruck, Delaney Hughes, Ava Poniros, and Lily Aulino. Great job working together girls!

Congratulations to the GCR varsity girls soccer team who defeated Hunter-Tannersville 3-1 this afternoon. GCR would go ahead early in the first half with a goal from Chamille Sass assisted by Olivia Ross. Olivia Ross would then make it 2-0 before the first half came to an end, with an assist from Adrianna Breigle. Angie D’Antoni would score early in the second half to keep GCR ahead 3-0, with another assist from Adrianna Breigle. Hunter would tally one on the board to make it a 3-1 game. GCR would go on to win 3-1 with many other scoring opportunities. The GCR defense and Caitlyn Ciaravino played a strong defensive game. The team earned their second win of the season and the ladies will play again tomorrow at Stamford against Stamford/Jefferson.

The GCR Varsity boys soccer team traveled to Schoharie on Thursday night for a non league game. Our GCR boys would take a 1-0 lead mid way through the first half on a goal by Logan Vamosy (Roxbury) . The score would remain 1-0 until Schoharie scored the equalizer late in the second half. After two ten minute overtime periods both teams had chances to win, but neither team could cash in. The game would end up a 1-1 tie. Next up for our GCR boys, Tuesday 9/17 at Gilboa against Stamford/Jefferson. GCR is now 2-1-2.

On Tuesday afternoon, the GCR JV Girls traveled to Unadilla for their second game of the season. At the end of the first half, GCR was down 3-0. After regrouping at the half, the girls were focused on moving up together to close the gap between the back line and midfield, and pulled their opponent offsides six times! They also began improving on their passing and attacking on offense. Madison Burgwin scored a goal for GCR on a penalty kick, sending new energy to GCR. They continued to battle, but the final score was 4-1. Autumn Slauson had 23 saves in goal and Courtney Bussiere made a save as sweeper. The GCR JV Girls play again on 9/20 at Cobleskill.

Our GCR boys varsity soccer team traveled to Delhi on Tuesday night and came away with a 5-0 non league victory. GCR started early, with Roni Grieco (Roxbury) finding the back of the net in the first five minutes of the game. The score would remain 1-0 until late in the second half, that is when Donavan Fermin (Gilboa) would score to make it 2-0. Our GCR boys offense would not stop the pressure, scoring three more times in the second half with goals from Donavan Fermin, Collin Lyke (Roxbury) and Roni Grieco. Collin Lyke, Donavan Fermin and Logan Vamosy (Roxbury) would all add assists on the evening. David Cammer would earn his second shutout of the season, thanks from a strong performance by the GCR defense, led by Jordan Johnston ( Roxbury), Cody Ciaravino (Gilboa) and Garrison Ross (Gilboa). GCR boys next game will be at Schoharie on Thursday night at 6:00. GCR record is now 2-1-1.
