GCCS DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS 🧅 SHREK JR: AN OGRE-THE-TOP SPECTACLE 🧅

Posted Date: 03/26/26 (05:00 PM)

Hear ye, hear ye! Gilboa-Conesville Central School is about to get a lot greener (and slightly more flatulent). Forget "Once Upon a Time"—we're doing "Once Upon a Swamp" starting March 27th.

The Plot (In Case You’ve Been Living Under a Rock... or in a Cesspit)

We follow an ogre named Shrek (played by Senior Rowan Tyree, who is really leaning into the "unwashed recluse" lifestyle for the sake of Art). Shrek just wants some peace, quiet, and a nice mud shower, but his swamp is suddenly invaded by a bunch of homeless fairytale misfits—Pinocchio, a Wicked Witch, and some pigs with questionable building permits—all banished by the vertically-challenged villain, Lord Farquaad.

To get his property value back up, Shrek makes a deal to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona (played by Senior Olivia Allen) from a dragon-guarded tower. Accompanied by a Donkey who won’t stop talking, Shrek embarks on a journey of romance, hilarity, and deep existential dread.

Why You Should Care

  • Deep Life Lessons: Come watch a green giant realize that being a loner is actually kind of lonely. It’s a journey of self-discovery that asks the hard questions, like: "Is my personality the problem, or is it just the onions?"

  • Student Labor: Our cast and crew have worked hard to bring this to life. They’ve learned about collaboration, prejudices, and how to apply green face paint without it staining their souls.

  • It’s Family Friendly: Bring the kids! Bring your grandma! Bring that weird neighbor who talks to birds!
