GCR Fall Sports Update 9/24/26: Boys Soccer

JV Boys Soccer:
The GCR JV Boys kept their perfect start alive with a 4-1 victory over Bainbridge Guilford. It was an electric start for the squad, with Kaleb Vamosy scoring in just :37 seconds on a great pass into the box from Oleksa Kutcher. Colin Tyree would double the lead a few minutes later with a sensational free kick from over 20 yards out. The match would stay locked at 2-0 through halftime. At the midpoint of the second half, GCR would add to their lead with an own goal from the opposition. Then with 8 minutes left on the clock, Vinnie Miraglio would find Mac Porter with a fine cross and Porter would find the back of the net for his first of the season. Bainbridge Guilford would add a late consolation goal to make the final GCR 4 - Bainbridge Guilford 1. 

GCR JV will be back in action on Monday 9/28 with a home match at Roxbury versus Milford. Kickoff at 4:30 pm.

Varsity Boys Soccer:
GCR boys varsity soccer team played a non league match in Worcester on Thursday night. GCR would jump out to a 1-0 lead on a long throw in from Garrison Ross that found Dom Grieco on the far post who found the back of the net. Both teams would have chances to score throughout the half , but the score would remain 1-0 going in to halftime. Early in the second half, Worcester would even the score at 1-1. GCR would settle in, and with 20 minutes left in the game, Dom Grieco would get his second goal of the night off a nice pass from Gabe Allen to push the lead to 2-1. Three minutes later, GCR would be awarded a penalty kick which Chris Cox buried to make the score 3-1. GCR would add one more goal on a direct kick by Chris Cox to extend the lead to 4-1. That is how the game would end. A shout out to the GCR defense and goalkeeper Erik Pettersen for keeping the Worcester offense at bay. GCR is now 7-0-1 overall, and 2-0 in league play. Next up for our boys is the Hunter tournament championship game on Saturday at 4:00 against host Hunter.
