FCCLA

FCCLA News!

FCCLA members have been having an incREDible summer and are about to embark on the Ultimate Journey for this school year! Olivia Ross attended the National Leadership Conference in Denver, CO at the beginning of July. She represented New York State and competed in the National Programs in Action category for STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition). We are super proud of Olivia's work this year in community service, raising over $4000 for Marathon for a Better Life. Olivia earned gold in her event! Besides competing, Olivia was able to meet up with other members from NY and almost 8,000 members from across the country, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. She attended workshops and leadership training, participated in pin trading, rooted for the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, hiked at Red Rocks amphitheater, rode some rides at Elitch Gardens, and explored downtown Denver.

Olivia was able to share her experiences at this year's Summer Leadership held at SUNY Oneonta. She, along with members Adreannah Cruz, Ariah Cruz, Destiny White, Jaidyn Sutton, and Abigail Woodcock, spent three days on campus with about 50 members from New York. Olivia met up with other members who were interested in becoming New York State Officers and began some team building and training in resume writing, professionalism, and public speaking. Jaidyn and Abigail jumped in as Junior Leaders with several other members and began their journey of learning all about FCCLA. Ariah, Adreannah, and Destiny were district representatives and attended some workshops on how to recruit and promote FCCLA. These students learned a little about college life by sleeping in the dorms, eating at the dining hall, and taking a tour of the campus. They also got to meet some Gilboa FCCLA alumni! Members also participated in a service activity, making t-shirt dog toys and collecting items for the Susquehanna Animal Shelter.

Gilboa FCCLA is ready to welcome everyone back to school and hopefully recruit some new members. These current members have some great ideas and fun activities planned for this year, so if you're interested in joining this year, please see Ms. Fleischman or any of these members!
