Our boys varsity soccer team had a heartbreaking loss tonight to Walton/Downsville, losing 3-2 in double overtime on a questionable call with 1:40 left in the game. Trailing 1-0 toward the end of the first half, Donovan Fermin tied it up 1-1 on an assist from Myles Uhalde. In the second half Downsville/Walton scored first to make it a 2-1 game. Our boys didn’t quit, with a little over a minute left in regulation Sean Wille scored to tie it up 2-2. On to overtime we go. In the first overtime period, our goalkeeper David Cammer made some great saves to keep them off the board. In the second overtime period it was more of the same, good chances by both teams but nothing would go in, until a penalty kick was awarded to Downsville/Walton in the 98th minute of the game. They converted the penalty kick and our boys take a 3-2 loss. A tough way to lose a hard fought game. We are back at it in Windham on Thursday.

Great effort from our varsity boys soccer team on Thursday night. Our boys lost a hard-fought battle to South Kortright 3-2. After taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Donovan Fermin with an assist from Josh Haslam , South Kortright came back and tied it up 1-1 right before the half. Our boys scored first in the second half to make it 2-1 from a goal by Burton Strauch. South Kortright came back with 2 goals to take the lead 3-2. With time running out our boys had one last chance to tie it, but could not put it in the goal. Our boys will meet up with SK again on Saturday the final day of the Mayors Cup. Game time is 3:15.

Dear Parents/Guardians: The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) will be offered at the Gilboa-Conesville Central School on Wednesday, October 25th from 8:00 am-11:00 am. The PSAT is the practice test for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test for college admissions), designed for sophomores and juniors planning to attend college after high school graduation. Scores are sent directly to the high school and are used as a guide for the SAT in the spring (for juniors). By taking the PSAT, students will have a chance to take a test very similar to the SAT in a familiar, comfortable atmosphere. Also, for the first time, students will take the online version of the exam on their Chromebooks. They will need to be fully charged on test day. Lastly, students will receive feedback to assess their strengths and weaknesses for the SAT in the spring. There are free practice exams on the CollegeBoard website here: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/practice/full-length-practice-tests Juniors are automatically signed up for this test. Any sophomores who would like to take the exam can email me or stop by my office to register. Please feel free to contact me at atompkins@gccs.us or (607) 588-7541, option 4 if you have any questions. Sincerely, Abigail Tompkins School Counselor

The Varsity Girls played a great game last night at Hunter. Their passing and possession in the first half led to many offensive opportunities. Unfortunately, they were not able to equalize on the lone goal from Hunter, but fought hard until the end. The girls will play their first home game tonight against Davenport sporting their new jerseys. Come out and support them as they continue the hunt for their first win!
